HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

LUCRATIVE LURE!!!
I wrote a “Hooked on Hopedale” piece early in the summer and did return to Hopedale to continue the adventure of fishing with Captain Dude!!!, and to become a quasi deck hand. Yes, I got good and lucky. No longer was I along for the ride. I’d bounce out of bed at 4 a.m., help ready the boat, greet the clients and get “ready to roll”. On board I’d prepare the poles, bait the hook and all the other things that go with it…including catching fish to give to the group.
I’ve caught big fish and little fish. Lots of them. One trip was particularly fun, well lucrative. I was on fish that day. The group was entertained, perplexed by it and having a great time. So a reward was presented by one of the clients. Whoever catched the next fish would win $20.00. What? I needed more of an incentive. So he raised it to $40. If the fish weighed over 5 pounds, $100 to the winner.
Of course, I caught the next fish because of the “lure”. It was 4.5 pounds, but I was happy with the $40 because it was another memory of the innate fun of fishing and the people that make it so.

Now the Winter fishing is ON in The Marsh and Bayous!!! Remember to look for The Birds are still feeding on live Shrimp while the trout run them to the surface!!! That why Live shrimp work the best under a Cajun Thunder Cork!!! Best artificial baits are Sparkled Beetles, just cast them out and let sink about 5 feet under the water then, just give a start and stop action while free line and restive!!! Fish ON!!!
Even When the water is low and muddy fish along the shore with Dead Shrimp under a Cajun Thunder Cork and you will land some Redfish for the Grill!!!
This will work all winter long!!!
FYI: Take extra care when running near crab traps corks when the water is low, remember that the trap will be up wind and the rope will be a lot longer laying on the water to the trap. And in the shallow water you may catch the rope in your prop or hit the trap with you prop, Its is better to pass down wind of the crab trap corks!!! Also carry a pair of Dyke cutting pliers on your boat it will come in handy, If you catch a trap in the prop.
